Ibn Haldun University, Department of Philosophy provides a holistic and problem-oriented approach to philosophy. At the center of the department’s academic research and teaching stands the history of philosophy with a focus on Islamic philosophy, Turkish thought and phenomenology. We divide classical Islamic philosophy into early (mutaqaddemeen) and late (mutaakh-khereen) classical periods. The courses of Turkish thought cover the period of time beginning from Seljuqs through the Ottoman Empire to the republic period. Ottoman thinkers and philosophers are main body of the courses of Turkish thought. We introduce phenomenological tradition to the students with many elective courses.
